The Electronic Somali Sports Federation (ESSF), represented by its President Mr. Said Abdullahi, participated in the African Confederation of Digital Sports (ACDS) General Assembly, held in Casablanca, Morocco. The gathering brought together key stakeholders from across the continent to discuss the future of African esports.
During the assembly, ACDS leadership reflected on the organization's progress since its formation and highlighted the success of the inaugural African Esports Championship (AEC). The meeting also focused on expanding membership, with several new countries including Niger, Kenya, Mauritius, and Algeria joining the confederation.
A major development from the session was the proposal to rebrand ACDS to ACES (African Confederation of Esports), a move aimed at strengthening the organization’s identity. Discussions also covered esports governance, membership compliance, and future event planning, with a commitment to hosting at least two major tournaments annually in Africa.
Mr. Said Abdullahi’s presence at the General Assembly reaffirmed Somalia’s commitment to esports development, with ESSF playing an active role in regional collaboration. The federation remains focused on fostering opportunities for Somali players and strengthening ties within the African and global esports ecosystem.
