Electronic Somali Sports Federation (ESSF) Leads Somalia into Its First eFIBA National Team Competition.

The Electronic Somali Sports Federation (ESSF) proudly announces Somalia’s first-ever participation in the eFIBA Season 4 NBA® 2K26 National Team competition, marking a significant milestone in the growth of esports and basketball culture in the country.

The eFIBA Season 4 tournament, organized by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), is a global esports competition in which national teams compete in NBA 2K26 Pro-Am mode to become world champions in virtual basketball. The season officially tips off on January 13, starting with the Africa Pre-Qualifiers, and will progress through regional stages toward the eFIBA World Finals in Doha, Qatar, scheduled for late April 2026.

For the first time in history, Team Somalia is included among the 15 national teams representing the African region. Somalia will compete alongside Algeria, Angola, Benin, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Ghana, Malawi, Mali, Morocco, Namibia, Nigeria, Togo, Tunisia and others in the quest to advance through the Pre-Qualifiers, Regional Qualifiers, and ultimately earn a place at the World Finals.

eFIBA continues to expand globally, with 58 national federations across six regional conferences vying for the world title. Matches will be streamed across official eFIBA channels, including Twitch and YouTube, providing fans worldwide the opportunity to follow Team Somalia’s journey throughout the competition.

The Electronic Somali Sports Federation invites all supporters, partners, and the Somali sporting community to follow, cheer, and support Team Somalia as they make history in this groundbreaking esports event.
