The Electronic Somali Sports Federation (ESSF), founded in 2021, aims to develop esports in Somalia. Its mission is to help Somali athletes compete successfully in local and international tournaments while promoting integrity and sportsmanship.

Dalmar Ali is an experienced basketball coach and program leader with a strong background across NCAA Division I, junior college, and elite prep programs in the United States and Canada. He has held key roles with Long Island University–Brooklyn, Florida State University, Tallahassee Community College, and Toronto Basketball Academy Prep, specializing in player development, recruiting, scouting, and basketball operations. Alongside traditional coaching, Ali has competitive experience in NBA2K, having been involved in the game since 2009.
Ali has contributed to conference championships, national rankings, and major program turnarounds while helping advance players to Division I and professional opportunities. On 3 December 2025, he was appointed Head Coach of the Somali National Basketball Team and the Somali National NBA2K Team. He holds a Master’s degree in Sports Management from Florida State University and is recognized for his leadership, strategic mindset, and ability to elevate performance across both sport and esports.
